Dear Colleagues,
As current President of NYSICA, I am pleased to announce the formation of a new Internal Control Officers Workgroup—a dedicated space for New York State professionals to collaborate, share expertise, and advance the practice of internal control and risk management within our agencies.

This workgroup has been established in direct response to feedback from our membership and the growing need for peer engagement in navigating today’s evolving risk environment. Our goal is to provide internal control officers across the state with a forum to:

• Share best practices, tools, and templates
• Discuss common challenges and practical solutions
• Explore innovative strategies for risk identification, assessment, and mitigation
• Promote consistency and excellence in internal control implementation across agencies

Participation in the workgroup will be open to all New York State internal control officers, and we encourage professionals at all levels—from newly appointed ICOs to seasoned experts—to take part in this collaborative effort.

We believe this initiative will strengthen our statewide internal control community and further our shared commitment to good governance, accountability, and continuous improvement in public service.
